Suggestions (HF) / A Modest suggestion.
« on: November 06, 2015, 06:41:08 PM »
Given the recent espionage themed figures, how about Modesty Blaise and her sidekick Willie Garvin? For us fans of the Laundry series, they'd do nicely as Persephone Hazard and Johnny McTavish as well.

A couple of minutes of long range camera footage that doesn't really show much.

Can't you just use the ones from Doctor Payne and Doctor Ecclescake? Or is there some technical reason?

Good to hear it's under consideration though.

Yeah, I'd also like to see this. A sprue with various different designs would be nice.

Doctor Who / Re: 50th Anniversary Special In 3D.

Surely the 'warrior doctor' regenerates into the William hRtnell doctor, not the eccleston one?

Watch the regeneration carefully. You can just make out Ecclestone's eyes before they cut away.

And now, two drunk fangirls watch the special. :)

Doctor Who / Re: Christmas Dr Who
« on: December 29, 2013, 12:36:14 AM »
I enjoyed it. It was a bit light weight, and could have done with another ten-fifteen minutes so it didn't feel quite so rushed. And someone really should turn the music down during the exposition, I like Murry Gold's stuff but not when it's drowning out important dialogue.
Overall, though, rather fun and with some great character bits. It was always going to suffer after the superb 50th special, so I'm inclined to give it the benefit of the doubt.
Besides, Clara in a short leather skirt... :yup: :danceofjoy:

Doctor Who / Re: iplayer special mini-episode of Doctor Who
« on: November 21, 2013, 12:50:55 PM »
There's been speculation that Night Of The Doctor was released early after someone leaked images of Paul McGann in costume onto the net.

And here's another minisode: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x17f1y0_50th-mini-epsode-the-last-day_shortfilms

Interesting armour design. I wonder if any one would be interested in making miniatures based on that?

Oh, and a bit of speculation on my part. I'll make it teeny tiny just in case it turns out to be spoileriffic. In the trailer Rose has glowy eyes, and in the clip shown on The One Show last night she makes reference to a wolf. Could this be the 'Bad Wolf' Rose from 'The Parting Of The Ways'? Using her time vortex powers to alter history?

Heresy - Announcements/News / Re: NEWS: New Scientist (to pre-order)
« on: November 09, 2013, 11:32:40 AM »
Mine arrived this morning, along with the rest of my order. Two hand options, a classic series style sonic screwdriver and a gloriously retro ray gun with scope.
I'm slightly disappointed that there isn't a more contemporary screwdriver option, but overall it's a very nice piece. It's a good 'un!

As the name suggests, Prodos Games is doing a miniatures game set in the universe of Aliens, Predators, and the USMC. Few details at this stage, but some early pictures on the facebook page.

« on: July 22, 2013, 12:52:03 AM »
I've been listening to 'The Men That Will Not Be Blamed For Nothing' rather a lot recently (steampunk band named after a bit of graffiti scrawled next to one of Jack The Ripper's victims. Deal with it). One track could provide inspiration for an interesting, if perhaps rather niche, figure. A zombie Prince Albert, of course. Maybe with a voodoo practising Queen Victoria.

Suggestions (HF) / Re: Amazons
« on: July 22, 2013, 12:39:49 AM »
The single breast is a bit off putting so I would ignore that.

And there's no real evidence to support the idea that they cut a breast off to hurl javelins or aim bows better. It's an assumption based on the similarity between 'Amazon' and 'a-mazos', literally 'without breast'. But a case has been made that it is 'a-maizos', meaning the Amazons shirked their womanly duties by not making bread!
The Iranian term 'ha-mazan', meaning 'warrior', is another possible source of their name.

Doctor Who / Re: Unavoidable spoilers for 50th Anniversary
« on: May 26, 2013, 11:49:59 PM »
... She saw all the doctors regenerations, as did we...  Apart from McGann.  What if Hurt is playing a much older 8th  doctor?

McGann, or rather an extra in his outfit, rushes past Clara a second or so before an extra in Troughton's costume jogs the other way. And a moment later, we say Troughton himself running in a sequence lifted from 'The Five Doctors' and edited into the shot.

I must admit, I've not been able to spot Tennent in it all.

The correct reply was " they've got flip-down covers, currently in the 'closed' position."

Works for me!

Superb work there, although shouldn't Louise's goggles have lenses at the end? They don't look like they do in these photos.

18
Yes. It's fair to say the designers of the game took a somewhat exaggerated approach to the design of the lead character. Someone once estimated that, if her head is the same size as that of a normal woman, then with her proportions she ought to be about nine foot tall.

19
Thanks TSR. That's a nice model, but rather pricey.

Ideas for New Heresy Models / She's a total bi--- , I mean witch.

I couldn't find any earlier suggestions for this, so I thought I'd through it out there.
The title character from the ludicrously over the top, mad-as-a-box-of-frogs-in-a-crack-factory, love it or hate it game Bayonetta.

Yes, those are guns on her shoes. So she can shoot you in the face at the same time she kicks you in the face.

Doctor Who / Re: Things we *think* we know about Clara. (Spoilers)
« on: May 17, 2013, 11:39:40 PM »
See, I thought that the door was locked as well, but I'm pretty sure the Doctor did give her a key in the first episode? Sure I remember him putting it in her hand and closing her fist over it...

He gave Victorian Clara a key in 'The Snowmen', shortly before she died. As far as I know modern Clara hasn't been given a key yet.

Suggestions (HF) / Re: Father Ted and friends
« on: May 05, 2013, 06:09:41 PM »
Well Father Jack used a sawn off shotgun to destroy Ted's guitar after the first performance of 'My Lovely Horse'.
I like this idea, and would suggest unarmed, but with weapons hands on the sprue. That way the figures could be used as generic post apocalyptic survivors and zombie killers, as well as their original form.

I'm not too sure about the green paint job, it looks a little too close to green stuff for my tastes, like they're still being sculpted. I do like the metal armour though, and the guns are neat.

Doctor Who / Re: Things we *think* we know about Clara. (Spoilers)
« on: April 07, 2013, 12:55:22 AM »
Ah, but the Doctor left the door open both times they stepped out of the Tardis (on the small rock at the start where they got there first view of the pyramid, and later in the market).

A (probably) ludicrous fan theory going round the net, Clara is a projection of the Doctor's next regeneration, like K'anpo and Cho-je in Planet Of The Spiders, or The Watcher in Logopolis. The fact we saw so much of Clars's childhood in this episode, however, makes that rather unlikely. But I'm not ruling it out. I'm not ruling anything out, where Moffat is involved.
