: Heresy Kickstarter Updates
: Big Boris August 16, 2014, 07:34:25 AM
If you can't beat 'em, join 'em.

I'm testing the waters with Kickstarter before running a large campaign next year for plastics. I want to resurrect my monsters in resin and to do it I thought I'd use this Kickstarter thing that everyone has now. The idea is that the KS stuff will ship at the end of January, ie post-dragon, because I'll still be spending the rest of this year getting all those out first, so don't worry, Dragon-queuers, you are still dominating my life. If I can raise enough funds, maybe I can even hire a new Minion and really get things moving, or close the shop for a bit and concentrate on just casting dragons and making the  production moulds for the kickstarter stuff!

The plan is to resurrect as many of the Classic large monsters that I have made since 2002 in as few chunks of resin as possible, as opposed to the rather jigsaw like nature of them when they were in metal. I've tried to resist altering them as much as possible, but any tweaks are very much for the better, to help them fit together or cast more reliably and so froth. Or to make me not cry when I look at their enthusiastic anatomy attempts from my early days in the business.

To whet your appetite, here's a few size comparison pictures:

I'll let everyone know by newsletter, twitter, facebook and on here when the Kickstarter launches, be aware there are a handful of minorly cheaper Early Bird offers for the first couple of dozen people.
Once it's launched, please let anyone who might be interested know on any forums you're on.:assimilate: A lot of people have pestered me about getting hold of a Netherlord over the years and this will be their only chance! Wouldn't want them to miss out, the campaign will only run for a couple of weeks! :charge:

Looking forward to it. Sadly I'll probably miss the earlybirds being 11 hours ahead but will still contribute regardless. Do you have a specific time you are planning on launching?

I've been pimping this out on LAF for you as well so will just copy your post over there if you don't mind :)

Finally a chance to get my hands on the tunnel dweller. I hope.

Argghhhhhh!. Balls.

Money has been ( and still is ) a bit scarce. But i'll do what I can.

-EDIT-

Also. Try dropping a message to the guys over at Beast of War.  Maybe they can give you a shout out on their web site. ( At least it couldn't hurt. )

Finally a chance to get my hands on the tunnel dweller. I hope.

Wave 2 or 3 will see the Tunnel Dweller in it, going to try to work out a cheap and easy way of getting loads of slugs and things in resin to go with him.

Please pimp it wherever and whenever you can. I'm hoping to launch it tonight, but it might be around midnight judging by how long it's taken so far, so you'll be fine... I'll give a one hour warning!

Just waiting to hear back from the Kickstarter admin to approve it and off we go. It's my first campaign so it has to be approved by a person...

do you need a facebook or twit accout to give money ?

Its a pity you not closer to northampton i'll work for coffee and bickies  :lmao:

Neither. I think you may need an amazon account though or it may just be a credit card. Can't remember.

No.

I have neither, and I've backed plenty of kickstarters. Payment is collected through Amazon.

I'm sure it will, once Kickstarter bother to look at it and approve it for launch!

They don't have any contact us details on their website, I may have to try pestering them on their Facebook page or Twitter feed...
: Re: Heresy Kickstarter Launching This Weekend!

What's the given time estimate for the approval process?
: Re: Heresy Kickstarter Launching This Weekend!
: Big Boris August 18, 2014, 12:32:24 PM
Well, I thought is was 2 - 3 days, but it seems they specify business days, so I guess Monday to Friday is the only time they look at projects, and probably on USA hours as well. Very frustrating. I've looked about and sometimes it can be up to four weeks! Hopefully not in this case as mine is straightforward enough.
: Re: Heresy Kickstarter Launching This Weekend!
: Big Boris August 18, 2014, 07:49:31 PM
OK, it's been approved.
Will launch it at Midnight UK time tonight.
Will add as many monsters as possible over next two weeks!
: Re: Heresy Kickstarter Launching This Weekend!

Woot

Probably cannot afford it, but I plan on backing anyway.

Do not hang about, I'm sending this out just ahead of the main announcement so that all of you on the FOD who aren't on Facebook and Twitter and the newsletter and that, have a crucial few minutes to get the Early Bird NetherLords before everyone else jumps on them!

Here's the link, it's live and you can pledge right now. Trying to bring back the classic large monsters in resin. The NetherLord will only be available as part of this Kickstarter campaign!

Go, go, go!

all the best, and good luck!

I loggeed in at just before 12 its already funded with some early bird reward levels filling up fast.
Congratulations on a great start! :boing:

I'm astounded. Happy, but bewildered. Probably cos it's past my bedtime and i thought I'd have at least 24 hrs to work out some proper stretch goal pics etc! lol

Thanks to all! Keep pimping it on other forums etc, I'll be rewarding you for it at some point with some novelty tat for all the people who brought in others!

Backed.  I posted a link to my painted NL1 here on the FoD in the comments section.

Backed earlier as well. Monsters monster monsters. Will that Giant Grub you made earlier be available Andy?

I went for monster mash.  I want jagu3 boris, leaning towards a spider maybe another 10 aniv boris.  We will see what happens.
: Re: Heresy Kickstarter Launching This Weekend!
: beefcake August 19, 2014, 07:25:36 AM
Yeah, I'm in at monster mash but if the NL2 comes out I may be all over that, precise dependent. I think it is two pay days away for me before it closes, (paid in about 6 hours time) so may be able to stretch it to £100

Congratulations! I hope, you'll exeed your wildest dreams with this one.

Can you be a bit more specific on shipping costs to EU/Germany?

Will there only be express shipping available or do you offer the same choices as your webstore?

: Re: Heresy Kickstarter Launching This Weekend!
: Big Boris August 19, 2014, 10:19:30 AM
Everything will be being sent tracked, unless it's a pin badge or single pack, style of thing. Peace of mind for all concerned. Euro costs will depend on weight of parcel, eg a single pin badge costs me £3.20 plus box price to post to Europe as it's over 5mm thick, despite it only weighing 30 grams or so. Tracking on that would push it up to £8.20 plus box. For bigger pledges, eg with NetherLords in, if a parcel is up around the 500gram mark, it'll be around £10.20 plus box for me to ship as it will have to go tracked. And so forth. It won't be prohibitive, and I would expect the max to be around £15.00 if you ordered say one of everything. Might even throw it in for free if you do that!

I think I'll probably be franking stuff by the time fulfilment comes around in February next year, so hopefully costs can be brought down by a bit. I understand franking to be 20% cheaper or so to the user. will be looking into it
: Re: Heresy Kickstarter Launching This Weekend!
: celtoslegion August 19, 2014, 11:41:16 AM
Thanks for the quick reply.
I agree, tracked shipping is the sensible option for international parcels.
I'll be in for a few monsters and a BB.

: Re: Heresy Kickstarter Launching This Weekend!
: BecauseWeIsMonsters August 19, 2014, 06:05:43 PM
I think you just increase the value of the pledge by the corresponding amount. You get to specify exactly what you want after the kickstarter has funded.

I don't have the space for giant monsters (which is a terrible shame because I would dearly love a Netherlord) but I have pledged to get some minions.

Andy. I hope that you know what you are doing here because I can see this turning into another Dragon thing. Good luck, mate... I really hope this is so successful that it takes some of the INFINITE pressure off you, I really do :) .

That sounds good. Help to get that dragon out the door and you back sculpting again. The new sculpts you have been doing are so much improved on the previous stuff. And it was your previous stuff that pulled me away from the GW hobby!

Dayum, Andy. If I could get that kind of skill and character into my finished sculpts, let alone rough sketches, I'd be a happy bunny.

Might be a daft question (especially with that 'Kickstarter' logo right there), but just to get it straight in my head: she'll be part of the KS, right? When will she be added?

Hi Andy, I just made a pledge of £42 quid (not huge but every little helps).

I clicked on the double Big Boris £25 and then wanted to add the 6 zombies £5, and each of the ghoul packs 2 x £6 which adds to £42. Once I clicked on the Double Big Boris and changed the amount to £42 there wasn't any option to write down what I wanted.

Did I do it wrong? Other kickstarters (well, I've only pledged on 2 others), usually have a box to tick for any optional extras. I'm confused!  :scratchhead:

Glad to see everything is going well though!

It's a real rollercoaster of feelings - in the last few hours, every new pledge has come at the same time as an old pledge has been cancelled, even some people who were chatting away on the comments board have suddenly cancelled. Heartbreaking every time!
Almost over now, 12 hours to go! looking forward to not being in front of my computer from 8am to 11pm!
If we hit £37,500, I'll be making a Winged Netherlord II for anyone who has a Netherlord Reward option selected as part of a pledge or has chipped in the extra £130 for it - the only way to get one of these is in this Kickstarter!
I've unlocked so much stuff that the £666 Lord Of Darkness pledge is going to be worth over £1000 if we hit £40k!
And if we do, I'll be able to hire a real life minion to help get rid of the dragon queue and I'll be sculpting the rest of this Giant!

So if you know anyone who might want a pretty flippin' amazing Bloodthirster proxy in the form of a Winged NL1 or NL2 or a blummin' brilliant GUO proxy (or other demon, she's not plaguey, just twisted and tubby) Madame Ner'Gabba, or an Orc player who wants a new Giant, point them in the direction of the Heresy Kickstarter in the next 12 hours!

Mr Foster sir, were we supposed to have filled in backer requirements yet?

Doing it via the pledge manager store mentioned in update 33. It's not live yet, will attend to it this weekend. You can browse it here:

http://heresyminiatures.com/kickstarterpledgemanager/index.php

but you can't sign in etc yet until it goes live.

UPDATE 35: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/heresyminiatures/return-of-the-monsters/posts/1145773

Essentially: The pledge manager store is now live, please read the front page carefully to understand how to use your individual codes to redeem your pledge amounts. Best ignore shipping dates, and assume things will really kick off beginning in May through Summer.

Cool. Mine will be a ways off yet. Can't wait to get the ogre throw the table! Couldn't spring for Madame though.

Kickstarter Update #38. Just outlining the status of everything for those who don't read the updates I post on social media or the ones I post on Kickstarter. Wait, what?
: Re: Heresy Kickstarter Updates
: leadhead August 26, 2015, 03:25:16 PM
Please oh please leave the maggotmen 'clean'.  Please don't cover them in sculpted slime and filth.  Please?  For the Cult?

Begging finished.
: Re: Heresy Kickstarter Updates
: beefcake August 27, 2015, 08:44:24 AM
I'd like to echo that comment. I prefer translucent slime so it kind of needs to be done after painting.

: Ajsalium August 29, 2015, 05:55:54 PM
Another vote for "clean". Two cents/reasons:

1) Some people will want them clean, others will want them filthy. But it's always easier to add something to a mini than removing it. So it's the better compromise.

2) You can't keep sculting a mini forever. Remember the dragon? The first problem was that it took ages to sculpt. You must learn that lesson, and know when to stop sculpting.

So about that giant.  Or rather his name.  Mucklegeet think that's what I read somewhere .  It's perfect.  The only problem I have, which is strictly my own, is I can't say or think the name without adding the word 'stew' for unknown reasons.  So, if I ever end up with one in my possession, I will have to call him Mucklegeet Stu.  Or maybe give him a big stew pot that he can dip adventurers in.

The human mind is a terrifying place.

So, if the maggot men are going into production casting this week, that would mean the only remaining thing on my list of KS rewards would be Madame Ner'Gabba?  Unless the lurkers haven't been cast yet.  I believe they were to remain in metal, if so they're likely all done then.  So exciting.

Really looking forward to the maggotman. I can't remember what I ordered. A wide range of stuff I think.

First few packs of Maggotmen - shame nobody is JUST waiting for them to fill their pledge, but as...

Hmm.  Dangerous words.  I am tempted to ask for the completed part of my pledge to be shipped out as is.  Then get the rest later.  That would likely mess with the order of things though.  Argh.  So excited.
