: Return Of The Revenge OF The Dragon II: The Mouldening
: Big Boris September 21, 2013, 04:05:29 PM
This could be quite a regular occurrence, but once again I will be taking some time off to do Dragon stuff - making another set of moulds, having re-worked it hugely since last time to eliminate a few problems (I hope, anyway. Yet to test my theory!).

Because making the moulds needs time and a lot of concentration I can't do it and the orders at the same time, so for the next week I won't be shipping anything. I'm not taking 2 weeks off because it took a further 3 weeks to catch up last time, so just the 1 week this time. Then I'll ship the orders that have accrued, starting Monday the 30th.

To compensate those who will be inconvenienced by this, there is 20% off the metal miniatures as before, and free WORLDWIDE shipping on all orders over 50. This includes the USA, and every other country on Earth, before anyone emails to check! (Someone always does!)

I will be posting the occasional video on YouTube of the process. I've done a couple already as you will have seen on my Facebook and Twitter feeds and things. They can be viewed here on the Heresy Miniatures YouTube Channel: (http://www.youtube.com/user/heresyminiatures?feature=watch) (Just discovered the 'Captions' option. Sufice to say, inaccurate.)

Right, can't hang about, got a lot of plasticine-like gak to mush about so that the mould lines run along the right bit of scales without obliterating everything. Fingers crossed!

I am making progress ........ It's just for the last few months I have been suffering from hobby/life fatigue like you were.
I really need some time away from my life in general especially work which isn't a happy place at the moment under the new bosses - I really miss the 20 hrs a month worth of wages they took  off me by changing th shift patterns !  :(

So how is this all going. Are castings working out well? I hope so.

Some are, some aren't. Weirdest thing is if you put too tight an elastic band on, the mould overclamps and leaves a big mould line on the part. Impossible to tell until you open the mould!

I've got limbs and things for about 5 dragons at the moment, torsoes and rocks for 3, but no wings - those had to be resculpted and remoulded, which I'm still in the process of doing becuase you have to pour in 1/3rd of a mould at a time to allow for the silicon expanding under vacuum, then leave it for 4 hours or so under pressure. Should be pouring th elast of those new moulds today, ready for use by Sunday as you have to also leave 24 hours for it to cure. Need to build a heatbox at some point - basically an insulated box with a lightbulb inside to warm the moulds through for a coupel of hours - this apparently will benefit them enormously.
